Other clergy present included the retired Bishop of Busoga, Rt Rev Michael Aaron Sosan Kyomya; the Dean of Christ’s Cathedral, Rev Canon Joy Mukisa Isabirye; the Vicar, Rev Canon Mathias Katikko; and the incoming Vicar of St. Andrew’s Church Jinja, Rev. David Munobwa, among other serving and retired clergy.

Preaching under the theme “Jesus is Lord and Saviour,” drawn from Luke 2:1–7, Bishop Lubaale reminded believers that the birth of Jesus Christ reveals God’s profound love for humanity and His divine plan for each individual.

“God who created you in His own image and likeness has a wonderful plan for your life,” he said, encouraging the faithful to trust in God’s purpose despite life’s challenges.

Drawing lessons from biblical history, Lubaale highlighted humility and obedience to God, citing King David as an example of someone uplifted by God because of his humility and willingness to follow the Lord’s will.

“The birth of Christ teaches us humility. Jesus was born in a manger, the lowest of places, yet He became the Saviour of the whole world,” he said.

The Bishop also addressed the doctrine of Christ’s nature, explaining that Jesus is both fully human and fully divine.

“Just as I am a clergy and a son of a clergy, and my wife is a daughter of a clergy and a wife of a clergy, Jesus is the Son of God and He Himself is God—100 percent human and 100 percent divine,” he said, while stressing that Mary is the mother of God but not God herself.

Bishop Lubaale also called on Ugandans to uphold peace ahead of the January 15, 2026 polls, reminding citizens that politics is seasonal, but the country endures.

He used the occasion to thank Christians, clergy, and the wider Busoga community for their support during his consecration and enthronement on December 14, appreciating their prayers, unity, and commitment to the Church.

The Bishop urged believers to continue supporting his episcopal ministry as he shepherds the diocese, encouraging them to remain steadfast in faith and service to God.
